3 mins readHappy Halloween my wonderful friends on the internet ๐๐ผ.
Hacktoberfest is an annual open-source contribution festival held in October that has already come and go for this year and there are always two things involved in Hacktoberfest or any Open Source Contribution in my own opinion.
It's either you are a CONTRIBUTOR or a MAINTAINER
If you are a MAINTAINER you are safe, but if you are a CONTRIBUTOR
It's either you make a PULL REQUEST before someone or someone makes a PULL REQUEST before you
If you make a PULL REQUEST before someone you are safe, but if someone makes a PULL REQUEST before you
it's either the maintainer MERGE and fix your branch merge conflict for you or the maintainer REJECT your pull request
if the maintainer MERGE your pull request, you're safe, but if the maintainer REJECT your pull request
It's either you ABANDON the project or you FIX the conflict and make a new pull request
If you ABANDON the project, you are safe, but if you FIX the conflict and make a new pull request
it's either you PUSH before someone, or someone else PUSH before you again
if you PUSH before someone, you are safe, but if someone PUSH before you
it's either the person's solution is REJECTED, or ACCEPTED
if the person's solution is REJECTED, you are safe, but if the person's solution is ACCEPTED
it's either the issue is the LAST in the project or there are OTHER issues
if there are OTHER issues, you are safe, but if that is the LAST issue
it's either you QUIT the hackathon or you find a NEW PROJECT with a fresh setup
if you QUIT the hackathon, there is only one thing involved, NO T-SHIRT and Stickers for you, and the experience is there, but if you find a new project to contribute to.
it's either you complete the minimum 4 PULL REQUESTS or you get STUCK HALFWAY
if you complete the 4 PULL REQUESTS, your reward is safe, but if you get STUCK HALFWAY
it's either you look for ANOTHER PROJECT to contribute to, or you QUIT
if you QUIT you will feel bad because it's halfway and no goodies for you, but if you find another project and put in the effort.
Swag Delivery!!!
Open source generally is something every developer should try out once a month because you learn from it as there is always something new to contribute, even though it's tough, you shouldn't give up.
