Why I’ll be participating in the Dangote Refinery IPO

Why I’ll be participating in the Dangote Refinery IPO.
I’m 27, and since 25, I’ve been investing with a long-term mindset. I think this is one of those rare opportunities worth taking a calculated risk on, and I’m going in with a five-year-plus horizon.
Dangote has a track record of building things people once thought were too big to build, from cement to sugar. I'm also aware of his failures in textiles, tomatoes, airlines, banking and more. But this refinery is in a different class. It made ₦2.5 trillion in profit in H1 2026 alone. The war contributed to that result, but the refinery has also proven its capabilities, and there’s still a much bigger expansion ahead. The IPO is raising money to help fund that expansion from 700,000 bpd to 1.4 million bpd.
I’m not buying because I think ₦525 is cheap, and I’m not buying because Dangote said it could reach ₦10,000.
I’m buying because I believe this business has the potential to become significantly more valuable and more important to Africa over the next 5–10 years.
I want to look back and tell my kids that I owned a piece of what I believe could become one of Africa’s greatest industrial projects.
I’ll buy, hold, watch the numbers and let the business prove the thesis.
See you on Monday.
